We are delighted to introduce Quarantini , a brand born during the first lockdown of the Covid-19 pandemic.

During lockdown in April 2020, the House of Wine team began toasting virtually every Thursday on an after-work call to celebrate the (almost) end of the work week. Faced with the closure of catering establishments, bars and small businesses, House of Wine wanted to help.

From there was born the idea of creating a solidarity gin that also tastes good and brings joy to people during quarantine. On March 26, 2020, the idea of Quarantini gin was born, and for each bottle sold, an amount of €5 had to be donated. Our designers started working on design ideas that same evening. The final design was fixed that same evening, but was intensively reworked over the next two weeks.

The next day, our co-founder Boris contacted our distiller Felix to tell him about the project. He too was enthusiastic and immediately started distilling with his team.

In just 3 days, the recipe was perfected. On April 1, 2020, the first 5 samples were ready. The recipe for the first gin, Dry Gin, which was launched on the market, included bergamot, bitter orange and papaya. This recipe was adopted the same evening, and the same day began the collaboration which continues to this day with Schweppes.

From idea to launch, it only took 3 weeks. On April 17, 2020 at 8:15 p.m., the pre-sale online store became operational, and overnight, everything was out of stock.

In the first 24 hours, €1,110 in donations were collected. Until the official launch, this amount was already €6,805. For each gin sold, €5 was donated to restaurateurs and small business owners.

Since then, Quarantini has expanded its range and introduced different varieties of gin, including non-alcoholic Virgin Gin, Barrel Aged Gin and Winter Gin.

Thanks to the support of the House of Wine community, a long-term goal has also been established: in collaboration with Viva Con Aqua, 1 person in Zambia will now receive 1 year of clean drinking water for every bottle sold. House of Wine supports Quarantini in the construction of drinking water wells in Zambia.

House of Wine is happy to share Quarantini’s story and thanks everyone who has provided their overwhelming support.
